There is something about being 40 feet in the air that strips away job titles. When the Boost Mobile team arrived at The EDGE for their team building day, they came as colleagues from different departments—marketing, sales, operations, customer service. By the time they rappelled down from the Adventure Tower, they left as something more unified.
The Challenge: Building Connections Across a Growing Team
Like many companies, Boost Mobile was looking for something beyond the typical conference room team building exercises. They wanted an experience that would push their team outside their comfort zones, create shared memories, and give people from different departments a chance to connect in a meaningful way.
The Experience
We worked with Boost Mobiles event coordinator to design a custom team building day that combined physical adventure with intentional team challenges.
Morning: Ground School and Icebreakers
The day started with our safety briefing, but we used this time to mix up the groups—putting people together who do not normally work side by side. By the time everyone was harnessed up, new conversations were already happening.
Sky Trek Team Challenge
Rather than letting everyone tackle the course individually, we structured it as a team exercise. Groups navigated obstacles together, with designated spotters on the ground communicating with their teammates above.
Zipline Tour
Nothing bonds a team like shared exhilaration. The 10-line tour gave everyone a chance to cheer each other on, conquer nerves together, and celebrate at the finish.
What Made It Work
- Real challenge, real support. There is no faking it when you are 30 feet up. Team members had to genuinely encourage each other, and those moments of authentic support carry back to the office.
- Leveling the playing field. Job titles do not matter on the Sky Trek. The newest intern and the department head face the same obstacles.
- Memories that stick. Months later, teams reference their adventure day. Inside jokes from the course. The person who surprised everyone. These become part of the teams story.
